Australian ratings for ‘The Bells of St John’

The Australian debut of the first episode of the so-called “Season 7b” has resulted in 757,000 “five city overnight” viewers. In a tight tussle, the three commercial channels had between 828,000 and 894,000 viewers for their shows opposite ‘The Bells of St John’.

The “consolidated” ratings are now in. This includes viewers who recorded and watched shows within one week of screening (but does not include those viewing by systems such as iView). This added 176,000 viewers for ‘The Bells of St Johns’ (for a total of 932,000 — yes, there is a rounding error), which meant ‘Doctor Who’ actually won its timeslot, and was fourth for the day behind three news or current affairs shows.

This rating is still only for the five big metropolitan areas (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth), not for the country as a whole.
