Australia Day Parade and Social Picnic

The Doctor Who Club of Victoria has again been asked to be part of the Australia Day Street Parade**.

This year however, we are making it a social event by encouraging members and friends to join us for a picnic afterwards. Bring a blanket or a chair and a picnic lunch for a relaxing afternoon with other Doctor Who fans!

Click the image below for a map of the location where you can find us.

We will also be manning our phone on the day though, so if you can’t find us, we can give you directions. 🙂

Parade generally starts around 11:00am, so we would be looking to start the picnic after midday (we will also have some committee members there early to set up and get our spot, so feel free to come by any time).

**If you are interested in joining us for the actual parade, we still have a few spots left. However a limit is being imposed on participants this year, so preferance will generally be given to cosplayers. Just contact us!

I am to show my ignorance and ask who are cosplayers. I understand the cos bit It is to do with costume but players! Is it to do with role acting? I am going to try and make it down from Bendigo via the V/Line. My public transport permitting so I hope that I wont get lost finding you. By the way, I received my first issue of the Sonic Screwdriver. It is very professionally set up and I enjoyed reading it. 5 Jelly Baby rating!

    All the best to you

I contacted you about participating in the parade but haven’t heard back where and when to meet.
    Please let me know.

Sorry these didn’t get replied to earlier. I usually moderate these comments, but have been moving house and have limited internet lately.

@Kay … hopefully you were able to find us all okay. I might have spoken to you on the day, just bad with names! If you haven’t been told already, ‘cosplay’ is short for costume play … so you were on the right track. But you’re right, ‘play’ kind of doesn’t make sense, but maybe its related to how you are having fun when doing it.

@Kristy… I’m pretty sure we have corresponded via email and due to the limits on numbers this year, we weren’t able to include your daughter. Great to speak to you at the picnic. 🙂
