As of September this year, we are pleased to announce that our club meetings will be moving to The Hub Docklands.
This exciting new venue gives us a lot more space and flexibility for in our meetings. We will be able to hire two rooms for less than the one room that we can hire @ Northcote Town Hall.
So Why Did We Decide To Move?
As discussed at last years AGM, Northcote council had increased the room rates this year. In the discussion, you, the members, expressed your preference to stay unless we could get a better venue/facilities. Also over the last 12 months meeting numbers have been rising and the small meeting room is getting a little crowded and noisy.
So the committee met and set out the following guidelines for a venue:
- has to be close to Public Transport so all members can get to it easily.
- we have separate space for people to chat and the kids corner without disturbing therest of the meeting.
- ramp accessibility.
- save us money.
- most importantly no noise restrictions like in a library.
When we looked at other options it became clear Northcote Town Hall is expensive but finding another venue that met all our criteria was difficult. But when we discovered the Hub we were very amazed at how good this venue is.
The Hub allows us to have a huge area for our meetings, great for panels, group discussions and stalls, a place to set up the kids area, and also a separate room that we can use for screenings or so that people can go and have a cuppa and a chat.
We believe this decision to move is going to create a fantastic meeting experience for you the members.
The Hub is 200 metres from tram stops D16 and D4 and five tram lines run past it. The tram lines are 75 (Vermont south), 70 (Wattle Park), 36 (City Loop), 11 (West Preston) and 48 (North Balwyn).
The Hub is also 600 metres walk from Southern Cross Train station. Parking is available in the streets around the Hub with both street parking (2P metered and un-metered) and multi-level carparks. Some of which offer all day parking specials, if you book online. Like Secure Parking at Southern Cross (Collins Street) which is $7 all day.
We hope you are as excited about the new venue as we are.
