Oz Comic-Con Melbourne 2018 @ Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Certre
Jun 9 @ 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Come along and visit the Doctor Who Club of Victoria at this year’s Oz Comic-Con. We will be situated at Booth C5, right next to the 501st/Rebel Legion Star Wars clubs. Unfortunately our friends at Tardis Australia won’t be able to make it this year due to work commitments, so we will have our backup TARDIS. You’ll still be able to get your photo in front of the TARDIS.

Post your TARDIS photos on Social Media using the hashtags #DoctorWhoVic or #DWCVOCC

We’ll have lots of Doctor Who goodies on sale including our ever popular fezes, Sonic Screwdrivers and fob watches. We’ll also have artwork from Y. Martin Painting and Design, and jewelry/accessories from Out of Place Fandom.

We will also be hosting a panel called ‘Lucky 13: The New Era of Doctor Who‘ at 5:00 pm on Sunday on the Community Stage. So don’t leave the con early, come along for a look at the upcoming Doctor Who series with Jodie Whittaker. We’ll have panelists on both sides of the female Doctor debate, along with your chance to give your own opinion. You might even win a small prize!

Bendi-Con @ Prince of Wales Showgrounds
Sep 23 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Bendigo Record Comic and Toy Fair has split into separate events.  The Bendigo Record Fair ran as a stand-alone event in June this year, and will continue to run as a separate event, run by the same friendly irresponsible folk.

The pop culture event has now re-branded as Bendi-Con, and the next event will be held on September 23rd at the Bendigo Expo Centre, Bendigo Showgrounds.  As usual, the cosplay contest, and the fair in general, is a fundraiser for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.

The Woman Who Fell to Earth Cinema Screening @ Hoyts Melbourne Central
Oct 8 @ 6:00 pm

For our Tardis Trip to the cinema screening of The Woman Who Fell to Earth, we have chosen to attend the charity screening to support One Girl. This is the 6:00 pm screening at Melbourne Central.

One Girl is an organisation that raises funds for girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda to go to school and learn business skills so that they can have a chance at life and escape the cycle of childhood marriage and forced pregnancy that they are often subjected to.

In order to purchase tickets that will help support One Girl, please ensure that you purchase your tickets through the Eventbrite page and not through the cinema directly.

https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/doctor-who-series-11-premiere-one-girl-fundraiser-tickets-50430530073

You can also purchase tickets on the night for the screening (subject to availability), but these will not support One Girl, so we encourage everyone to pre-book in order to support this wonderful cause.

Meet up with fellow DWCV members after the screening as we may grab a bite to eat if enough people are interested or to just chat and talk about that we thought of the episode.

Nov 25 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

For the fifth year running, the Whovian Parade will be on again, for fans of Doctor Who to show off their Whovian pride through the streets of Melbourne!

To celebrate the anniversary of the airing of the very first episode of the very first serial of “Doctor Who” way back in 1963, starring William Hartnell as the very first Doctor, all fans are invited to come along and parade their pride for the legacy it spawned.

Please keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event, costumes and behaviour should be in accordance to this.

Those not wishing to participate in the parade, are free to stay at the Carlton Gardens, as this year’s parade route will be slightly different to previous years and will be ending back at the Carlton Gardens.

Please note that this information is not final and may be based on previous event information. Please check the Facebook event for updated information and rules of participating.
