
The BBC have named Ncuti Gatwa as the next Doctor, taking over from Jodie Whittaker after the Centenary Special later in the year.
The Rwandan-born, Scottish-raised actor is best known for playing Eric Effiong in Netflix’s comedy-drama Sex Education, winning awards for his performance. His casting was announced on social media by returning producer Russell T. Davies prior to the BAFTA Awards, with Ncuti and Russell expressing their excitement in red carpet interviews.
Locally, the story was covered by ABC and Nine News, and even a question on Have You Been Paying Attention?
However it seems this isn’t the end of the story, as further announcements have seen David Tennant and Catherine Tate back on set for the 60th, along with Yasmin Finney as someone called “Rose”…
